Towards next generation probiotics: Current progress and future perspectives

Probiotics Summit

Global market demand for probiotics has increased significantly over the last decade, as has our appreciation of the important role that beneficial gut microbes play in maintaining health. This has led to significant commercial interest in developing improved, more efficacious, probiotics. Significant technological challenges must first be overcome, and future efforts may also require a more personalised approach to supplementation. This talk will summarise current knowledge, and examine opportunities for industry-led development of next-generation probiotics.
