Vitamin Industry Success Story: How we can use nutritional solutions to reduce risks of ill health due to air pollution

Vitamins Forum

The fine particulate matter (i.e. PM2.5) in traffic and industrial pollution constitutes a distinct environmental risk to human health and well-being. Exposure to high concentrations of PM2.5 and other pollutants has been associated with increased rates of cardiovascular and respiratory morbidity and mortality. Nutritional interventions, for example the individual intake of essential micronutrients (such as B vitamins, and vitamins C, D, and E) and/or marine omega 3 fatty acids are showing promise in reducing the severity of symptoms of people living in highly polluted environments.
