The long and winding road - sports nutrition regulation in 2017
Vitafoods Centre Stage
In 2003 the European Commission floated a plan for a tightly-drawn, restrictive sports nutrition regulation. In 2016, the European Commission decided that sports nutrition was a food no different to any other and could be regulated as such - there was no need for such an overbearing law after all. Stuart Shotton, vice-chair of ESSNA, will explain how we got from one extreme to the other and the actions that ESSNA took to guide EU decision-makers along this long, and often winding, road, as well as what's next for the sports nutrition industry.
