Maternal metabolic health during pregnancy: an opportunity to break the intergenerational obesity cycle

Life Stages Theatre
Childhood obesity is a risk factor for non-communicable diseases in adulthood. Concurrently, a childs obesity risk is influenced by several early life factors including his/her mothers nutritional and metabolic status before and during pregnancy. The maintenance of mothers nutritional balance and metabolic health during pregnancy through nutrition-based approaches (e.g. food supplements) represents an opportunity to break the obesity cycle. Considering this, we have established a comprehensive research program including a major public-private partnership
