Potential of Probiotics and n-3 Polyunsaturated Fatty Acids in Reducing Risk for Gestational Diabetes
Probiotics Summit
An increasing prevalence of gestational diabetes calls for novel preventive means. Many dietary components have metabolic effects that are of significance in regulation of glucose metabolism. Concurrently, the knowledge on the metabolic functions of intestinal microbiota is rapidly increasing. Regarding many functions that dietary components and intestinal microbiota have on human metabolism and subsequently on health, their therapeutic manipulation seems attractive. The potential of probiotics and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids in reducing the risk for gestational diabetes is discussed in this presentation.
